Dorothy Looby Troester
Dorothy Mae Looby Troester, 81, of Waukon died Wednesday, Feb. 28, 2007 at Veterans Memorial Hospital in Waukon following a brief illness. Funeral Services were held Wednesday, March 7 at St. John Lutheran Church, Luana, with Rev. Lynn Groe officiating. Burial was in the church cemetery.
Dorothy was born May 24, 1925 in rural Farmersburg to Charles F. and Althea (Lemke) Looby. She attended Eno Country School through the eighth grade.
She was united in marriage to Frank A. Troester April 30, 1953. Two children were born to this union. Frank died suddenly in 1956. Dorothy enjoyed books, magazines, dancing, comedy shows, cats, embroidering, taking walks, ironing, baking and old time country music. Her favorite song was, "Blue Eyes Crying in the Rain". She also loved spending time with her family and friends.
Survivors include two sons, Dale R. Troester and Donald W. Troester of Marion; two sisters, Idella Landt of Monona and Patricia Looby of Marion; one sister-in-law, Vera Utterback of Bartlett, IL; and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; and two brothers, Charlton (Evelyn) Looby and Lyle (ElDonna) Looby.
Casketbearers were Milo Doerring, James Walter, Gene Walter, Neal Landt, LaVerne Landt, and Alan Landt.
