LeRoy Louis Eberhardt

Funeral services were held for LeRoy Louis Eberhardt, 64, Monday, April 14, 1986, at the Bethany Lutheran Church, with burial in the Eastside Cemetery, Elkader. Pastor Albert L. Hock officiated. Honorary bearers were Alex Schneider, Ollie Hustad, Ray Zwanziger, Valmah Siebrecht, Pallbearers were Richard Klinkenberg, Harold Seeland, Darrell Kifer, Steven Clausen, Morris "Bud" Eide, Robert Hanson.

He was born August 26, 1921, in Garnavillo Township, the son of Louis and Elta Kalke Eberhardt. He attended the Garnavillo schools, and graduated from high school in 1940. He married LaNida Glawe at Zion Lutheran Church, Clayton Centre, in 1942. They became the parents of three children. They farmed near Garnavillo for six years, then in 1948 they bought the farm near Elkader where they lived until the fall of 1985. He died at Central Community Hospital in Elkader Friday morning, April 11, 1986.

LeRoy was an active member of Bethany Lutheran Church, where he served many years on the church council and also served as president of the congregation. One of his special joys was his service on the Boy Scout committee where he worked as chairman for many years. He also was a member of the Elkader Lions Club, and served on the board of Central Community Hospital.

Survivors include his wife LaNida, a daughter, Mrs. John (Diane) Gerken of Cascade, his son Dennis of Elkader, eight grandchildren, (Scott, Aaron and Mark Siebrecht of Garnavillo, Kim, JoAllen and Michael Gerken of Cascade, and Stacy and Jennifer Eberhardt of Elkader), his mother, Elta Eberhardt, Elkader, two sisters, Mrs. Milton (Anna Mae) Kramer of Elkader, Mrs. Haldon (Marie) Reimer of Garnavillo, and two brothers, LuVern Eberhardt of Elkader and Floyd Eberhardt of Garnavillo.

He was preceded in death by his father, his daughter Elaine Siebrecht in 1976, and a sister Florence Fette.
