Glendor Freitag

Funeral services for Glendor Freitag, 68, were held Friday morning at Peace United Church of Christ in Elkader May 30, 1975. Burial was in the East Side Cemetery. The Rev. Marvin Marcks, pastor officiated.

Freitag died at Central Community Hospital Tuesday, May 27, 1975, following a heart attack. He was born April 28, 1907 at Elkport, Iowa, and was the son of William and Mary Freitag.

Glendor Henry Carl Freitag was baptized on June 3, 1907, at the Lutheran Church in Elkport, and on April 9, 1922 was confirmed in the same church.

On September 25, 1929, Mr. Freitag was united in marriage to Vera Breitsprecher at Clayton Center. Together they farmed in Clayton County and established a home for their three children---Ivan, Vergean and Marilyn.

Shortly after their marriage they became members of Peace United Church of Christ where he has been an active and faithful member ever since. In the year 1956 they retired from farming and moved to Elkader. Mr. Freitag did various jobs around town always eager to lend a helping hand. For a number of years, he was a janitor at the Opera House in Elkader.

Freitag is preceded in death by his parents and three sisters.

He is survived by his wife, Vera, their three children, Ivan Freitag, Elkader, Mrs. Carl ( Vergean) Schmidt, Farmersburg, and Mrs. Herb (Marilyn) Thome, Cedar Rapids, one brother, William Freitag, Elkader, three sisters, Mrs. Clarence Fehlhafer, Elkader, Mrs. Herman Kruse, Strawberry Point, and Mrs. Francis Gloden, Hinckly, Illinois, eight grandchildren, nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends.

Pallbearers were: Joe Wacker, Kenneth Lemka, Duane Vorwald, Harold Griffith, Dale Kelly, and Jack Dittmer.

Out of town relatives attending his funeral were: Mrs. Malloy Wittman, Lake Lillian, Minnesota, Velma Swanson, Wilbur, Minnesota, Mrs. Gary Sherwood and son Donald, Pennock, Minnesota, Mr. and Mrs. Art Rust, Atwater, Minnesota.

Our heartfelt thanks go to the staff at Central Community Hospital, to Rev. Marcks, to friends and relatives for food and flowers at the time of our sorrow.
