Obituary
MononaRuben Arthur Hoth, 74, died Wednesday, January 27, 1999, in Memorial Hositpal, Prairie du Chien, Wisconsin, after a sudden illness. Services 1 p.m. Saturday, St. Paul Lutheran Church, Monona, by Pastor Bill Schroeder and Pastor Kristine Schroeder.
Burial: Monona City Cemetery, Friends may call from 2 to 8 p.m. Today at Schult's Funeral Home, Monona.
Reuben was active in many organizations throughtout Clayton County.
Survivors include a special friend, Velma Passmore, three sons, Randy Hoth, and wife Kathy of Milwaukee, Alan Hoth, and wife Gwen of Monona and David Hoth of Denver, Colorado, a daughter, Gayle and husband Linn Heithoff of Harvard, Illinois, eight grandchildren, Andrea and Karina Hoth

Funeal services were held for Reuben Arthur Hoth, 74, Monona, Saturday, January 30, 1999, at St. Paul's Lutheran Church, Monona, with burial at the Monona City Cemetery. Pastors Bill and Kristina Schroeder officiated. Honorary ballbearers were John Bernhard, Clarence Meyer, Marvin Zitterguen. Lloyd Drahn, Foster Koth, Duane Lamker and Carlyle Reeg. Pallbearers were Leon Meyer, Sheryl Zittergruen, Steven Russett, Steven Reeg, Jeff Woodman, and Larry Riveland.
Reuben Arthur Hoth, son of Arthur August and Charlotte Heuer Hoth, was born July 15, 1924, at St. Olaf, Iowa, in Clayton County. He graduated from Monona, High School in 1942. Reuben was orphaned as a child. He was raised by Alvin and Louise Kaiser. He moved to the Kaiser farm east of Monona in 1936. He served in the Army during World War II with the Occupation Troops. He was discharged in 1946 as a Tech Sergeant. After returning from the service he farmed on several farms in the area, purchasing the Kaiser farm in 1962. Reuben was united in marriage to Marilyn Wagner December 10, 1947, at St. Paul's Lutheran Church, Postville. To this union five children were born, Randy, Leland, Gayle, Alan and David. Reuben was active in many organizations in the area. He served on the Luana School Board, Clayton County School Board and was first chairman of the Keystone AEA Board. He served as committee chairperson for Boy Scouts Troop 38; was president of St. Paul's Lutheran Church congregation, and was a member of the church choir and men's group. Reuben was on the board of Northeast Iowa Telephone Company. He was crowned the king of Germanfest in 1995. Reuben moved to town in 1995 and lived there until the time of his death. He died Wednesday, January 27, 1999, at Prairie du Chien Memorial Hospital, Prairie due Chien, Wisconsin.
Survivors include three sons, Randy (Kathy) Hoth, Milwaukee, Wisconsin, Alan (Gwen) Hoth, Monona, and David Hoth of Denver, Colorado; one daughter, Gayle (Linn) Heithoff, Harvard, Illinois; eight grandchildren, Andrea and Karina Hoth, John and Kristen Heithoff, Toni and Neil Hoth, and Andreana and Trevor Hoth; one sister, Helen Reinhardt, Denison and a special friend, Velma Passmore.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife Marilyn who died September 29, 1993; one son Leland, and two brothers, LeRoy and Lester.
