LeRoy John Hoth
Funeral services were held for LeRoy John Hoth, 82, Monona, Saturday, August 30, 1997, at St. Paul's Lutheran Church, Monona. Rev. Eugene Kramer officiated. Burial was in the Clayton Center Cemetery, Clayton Center. Honorary pallbearers were David Schlitter and Harold Landt. Pallbearers were John Ryan, Doug Baade, Bob Kiesau, Leon Meyer, Tom Meyer and Don Voss.
LeRoy John Hoth, son of Arthur and Charlotte (Heuer ) Hoth, was born January 26, 1915, at St. Olaf, Iowa. He was baptized and confirmed at Zion Lutheran Church at Clayton Center. He received his education at the County Home School. LeRoy quit school at the age of 14 to help on the farm because of his father's death. LeRoy was united in marriage to Emma Stade on June 14, 1933 at Farmersburg. He worked at various jobs and farms. He moved to the present farm at Monona on February 1, 1942.LeRoy was active in church and served on various committees. He had a special joy of being captain of the church dart ball team which won the state tournament. He was a long time 4-H leader and enjoyed serving as chaperone on youth trips. LeRoy served on many committees and as a member of organizations. He enjoyed Guernsey cattle, family gatherings, combining corn, John Deere machinery, playing cards, and rain when the crops were dry. He entered the Great River Care Center, McGregor, December 1, 1995. He died there Wednesday August 27, 1997.
Survivors include a son, Gary A. "Tiny" Hoth of Monona, a daughter Roylene and her husband Keith Mohning , Garnavillo; a grandson, Jon Mohning and his wife Tammy of Des Moines, a granddaughter, Janet Mohning, Chicago Ridge, Illinois, a sister, Helen and her husband, Keith Reinhardt of Denison, and a brother, Reuben Hoth, Monona.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife Emma, who died June 10, 1965, a brother, Lester, and an infant brother and sister.

Thank You to our relatives, neighbors and friends for the sympathy and kindness shown at the death of LeRoy Hoth. We appreciated the cards, calls, visits, food and memorials. Special thank you to Pastor Kramer, Connie Halvorson, ushers, ladies who served lunch, Mary Jo Craig and Burnell. To all of Dad's friends at White Springs, thank you for looking after LeRoy these past two years. Heartfelt thanks to the entire staff at Great River Care Center for their loving and devoted care.
