Allen "Bud" Burroughs, 73, formerly of Waterloo, died Friday afternoon (28 Feb 1992) in the emergency room of Covenant Medical Center, Waterloo.

Services: 1 p.m. Tuesday, O'Keefe & Towne-Grarup & Waychoff Funeral Home, Waterloo, where friends may call from 1 to 4 p.m. today, all day Monday and after 9 a.m. Tuesday, and a public Masonic service begins at 7 p.m. Monday. Burial: 3 p.m., Evergreen Cemetery, Vinton, with military rites by Gorge G. Luckey American Legion Post 57, Vinton.

Surviving are his fiancee, Virginia Landis; three brothers, Kenneth Burroughs of Farmersburg, Donald Burroughs of Springfield, Ore., and Russell Rinker of Vinton; and two sisters, Lyle Earle of Waterloo and Helen Goin of Cedar Rapids. Also surviving are his friend Gail Landis and longtime friends, the Carl Landau family.

He was preceded in death by a brother, Duane.

He was born Aug. 23, 1918, in Monona to John and Mary Olmstead Burroughs.

He served in the Air Force during World War II, was a member of El Kahir Temple in Cedar Rapids, El Mecca Shrine Club in Waterloo, Oriental Band in Waterloo and Waterloo Lodge 105 A.F. & A.M.

Bud was an avid bowler, golfer and a great sports fan. Memorials to Shrine Crippled Children Hospitals.
