Interment: January 06, 2007 at Norway Lutheran Cemetery, rural St. OlafKent E. Peterson, 44, of Hoffman Estates, IL, formerly of Elkader, died at the University of Chicago Hospitals on December 27, 2006 from leukemia/lymphoma. His family was by his side. Funeral services will be at Norway Lutheran Church, St. Olaf, IA at 11 am January 6, 2007, with Rev. Marshall Hahn officiating, with burial following at the church cemetery.
Kent is survived by his wife Barbara (Lemon) Peterson of Hoffman Estates, IL, his parents Wayne and Bernadine Peterson of Elkader, IA, and his sister Susan Peterson of Appleton, WI. He is also survived by many aunts, uncles, cousins and friends.
He was preceded in death by his grandparents Thomas and Mabel Peterson of St.Olaf, IA and Ernest and Alvina Seifert of Elkader, IA.
Kent was born on October 8, 1962 at Wurtsmith Air Force Base, Oscoda, MI. He grew up in Michigan, California, Massachusetts, and New York as his father completed a career in the Air Force. The family then returned to St. Olaf, IA. Kent graduated from Central Community High School, Elkader, IA in 1980. He completed his B.S. degree in electrical engineering from Iowa State University, Ames, IA, in 1985. Kent later completed his M.S. degree from George Washington University, Washington, DC.
Kent lived and worked in Maryland as an electrical engineer at COMSAT until he returned to the Midwest in 1990. He was currently working at Northrop Grumman, Rolling Meadows, IL.
On October 26, 2002, Kent married Barbara Lemon of Naperville, IL. They made their home in Hoffman Estates, IL. He was an avid skier and member of the Four Seasons Ski Club. He and Barbara spent many happy times skiing, camping, and traveling. Kent was a very loving husband, son, brother, and friend and is dearly missed by those who knew and loved him.
