Robert B. Carnes, 57, of Elkader died suddenly Tuesday, November 21, 2006. He was born November 18, 1949, in McGregor, to Kenneth and Mary K. (McGee) Carnes.
He graduated from Central Community High School in 1968, attended Kirkwood College for two years and graduated from Platteville, WI I broadcasting/communications. Bob entered the U.S. Air Force on August 1, 1972, and was honorably discharged with the rank of Sgt. On September 22, 1976.
Prior to returning to Elkader, where he has been with Carnes Brothers, Bob worked at radio stations in Dubuque, Davenport, and Clayton Center.
Survivors include his brother John(Cecile) Carnes and a sister, Anne (John) Franta all of Elkader; nieces and nephews, Bradley Carnes, Orion, IL., Thomas Carnes, Newbury Park, CA., Matthew Franta, Bloomington, MN., Benjamin Franta, Cedar Rapids, Katie and Molly Franta, Elkader.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Casket Bearers: Bradley Carnes, Thomas Carnes, Dave Miehe, Matthew Franta, Benjamin Franta, and John Franta.
Music By: Darlene Dittmer, Benjamin and Katie Franta.
Mass of Christian Burial was held November 24 at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Elkader, with Rev. Paul Peters as celebrant. Burial followed in the church cemetery.
