—Mr. and Mrs. Marshall A. Crawford, of Giard, Clayton county, on the 9th inst. celebrated their marriage at Lowell, Mass., on the same day in 1853. Two sisters of Mr. C. have recently celebrated their golden weddings and Mrs. C. has a sister who will celebrate in October. Such longevity is very infrequent.

Golden Wedding
Last Saturday, May 9th, at Giard, Iowa, was celebrated the Golden Wedding of Mr. and Mrs. M.A. Crawford.

Marshall A. Crawford and Mary B. Richards were married May 9th, 1853, at Lowell, Mass. They came to Clayton county at an early day and resided many years on a farm near McGregor.

One daughter, Artie M., blessed this union and she was at one time a successful teacher of this county. When she was married to David McGill she wore her mother's wedding dress, and strange as it may seem, Mrs. Crawford has, all these years, kept this dress of brocaded silk, and wore it at her golden wedding. Their daughter died leaving a son, Leo McGill, who is the only descendant of this aged couple.

There were twenty-five relatives and friends present to assist Mr. and Mrs. Crawford celebrate their fiftieth anniversary, and all were royally entertained and hope to be present at the diamond wedding of this worthy couple.

Two sisters of Mr. Crawford have recently celebrated their golden weddings, Mrs. John E. Corlett, of Elkader; and Mrs. John Orr, of McGregor; while Mrs. Crawford has a sister in New Hampshire who will be married fifty years next October, showing that these people belong to long lifed families.
