Miss Vergean Freitag, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Glendor Freitag of Elkader, became the bride of Carl Schmidt, son of Mr. and Mrs. Chas. Schmidt of Farmersburg, Sept. 08, in the Peace Evangelical and Reformed church in Elkader with the Rev. Paul Kitterer officiating. During the ceremony, Neil Freitag, cousin of the bride, sang. Miss Marilyn Freitag, sister of the bride, was maid of honor, and bridesmaids were Mrs. Ivan Freitag, sister-in-law of the bride, and Mrs. William Schmidt of Clermont, sister-in-law of the groom. The groom was attended by Roger Huckstadt of Farmersburg, cousin of the groom, and Ivan Freitag of Elkader, brother of the bride. and William Schmidt of Clermont, brother of the groom. Ushers were Roger Drahn of Farmersburg, friend of the couple, and Roger Beitsprecher of Elkader, cousin of the bride. Mr. and Mrs. Albert Breitsprecher of Elkader, grandparents of the bride, were present at the ceremony.

Mrs. Schmidt is a graduate of the Elkader high school and has been employed in the local office of the Northwestern Bell Telephone company for the past two years, where she will continue for the present. Mr. Schmidt is a graduate of the Farmersburg high school and will be employed in St. Olaf.

After a wedding trip the couple will be at home in Elkader.
