The marriage of Miss Jeanine Marie Cook and Ralph Raynold Matt was solemnized Saturday morning, Nov. 30, in St. Joseph's Catholic church at Elkader. The Rt. Rev. Msgr. Daniel A. Gorman officiated. The Rev. Robert Cooney was present in the sanctuary. The bride is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Merlin A. Cook of Elkader, and the groom is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Arthur Matt of Castalia. Miss Mimi Baumgartner of Zion, Ill., a classmate of the bride during nurse's training, was maid of honor, other classmates of the bride were bridesmaid and brides matron. Arthur Matt Jr., served his brother as best man, and Albert Matt, also a brother of the groom, and James Cook, brother of the bride, were groomsmen. Ushers were Dennis Rear, brother-in-law of the groom, and Dennis Cook, brother of the bride. Chuck Easton and Billie Cook were in charge of gifts.
The bride is a graduate of Elgin high school, class of 1954, and St. Mary's school of nursing, Rochester, Minn., class of 1957. The groom graduated from Clermont high school in 1953, and served two years of military duty with the U.S. Army.
After a short wedding trip, the new couple will make their home on a farm near West Union.
