MONONA: Miss Marlene Mae Scheffert, daughter of Virgil Scheffert and the late Mrs. Scheffert of Luana, became the bride of Gary K. Houg, son of Mr. and Mrs. Carl Houg of Monona, at St. John's Lutheran church at Luana Tuesday, Nov. 12, at 2 o'clock. The Rev. L. W. Reuther officiated. Mrs. Earl Haas, sister of the bride, was chosen matron of honor, and Miss Marilyn Houg of Monona, sister of the groom, and Miss Norma Hangartner of Luana, were bridesmaids. Janice Henkes, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Calvin Henkes of Farmersburg, cousin of the bride, was flower girl, and Brad Sabbann, son of Mr. and Mrs. Don Sabbann of Monona, cousin of the groom, carried the rings. Carl Houg Jr. of Decorah, served his brother as best man, and groomsmen were Virgil Dean Scheffert of Luana, brother of the bride, and Roger Tayek of Monona, cousin of the groom. Earl Haas of Waukon, brother-in-law of the bride, and Raymond Bollman of Monona, ushered.
The bride is a graduate of the Luana high school, and the groom graduated from the Monona-Farmersburg Community high school. He will be employed at the Evans Hardware in Monona. The new couple will be at home in the Orlando Marting apartments in Monona.
