Sept. 08, in the Bethany Lutheran church, Miss Thelma Kleppe, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Clarence Kleppe, West Union, and Don Wilke, son of Mrs. Carrie Wilke and the late Elmer Wilke, Elkader, were united in marriage. The Rev. A. Storry officiated. Mrs. John Barness, aunt of the bride, played organ selections and accompanied Miss Ethel Mae Kleppe, cousin of the bride, who sang. Mrs. Arnold Kleppe, sister-in-law of the bride, was maid of honor, while Sharon Kramer, cousin of the groom, was bridesmaid. Arnold Kleppe, cousin of the bride, was best man, and Ray Pratt, friend of the couple was groomsman. Kathy Kleppe, cousin of the bride, was flower girl, and C_rmen Reinertson, also a cousin of the bride, was ring bearer. Ushers were Clarion Kleppe, brother of the bride, and Arno Wilke, brother of the groom. Candlelighters were Helen and Billy Wilke, niece and nephew of the groom. Delores Johnson, cousin of the bride, was in charge of the guest book and gift book. Arlene Reinertson and Carolyn Anderson, cousins of the bride, cared for the gifts.
At the reception, Mrs. Ervin Johnson, aunt of the bride, cut the five-tiered cake, and Mrs. Wilbur Drinovsky, cousin of the bride, served. Mrs. Walter Wilke, aunt of the groom, poured coffee, and Mrs. Jake Plies served.
The bride is a 1956 graduate of West Union high school and was employed at the new F. W. Woolworth store at Oelwein. Mr. Wilke attended Elkader school and is now engaged in farming.
After a short wedding trip, they will make their home on a farm near Elkader.
