Sutherland - Lau marriage - 1948

A pretty June wedding was solemnized at St. Joseph's rectory at Elkader Saturday, June 12, when Ivanelle K. Lau, oldest daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Herbert Lau of Elkader, became the bride of Otis Sutherland, son of the late Mr. and Mrs. Wm. Sutherland of Chattanooga, Tenn. The Rev. B. H. Skahill officiated. Miss Betty Lou Christianson of Gunder, close friend of the couple, served as bridesmaid. Keith Lau, brother of the bride, served as best man.

The bride has been employed at the Checkerboard Cafe. The groom is a veteran of six years, ten months of service. He served in World War II, 49 months of which were spent in the South Pacific with the 25th division in Combat duty. Mr. and Mrs. Sutherland are living in Monona, where the groom is employed.
