Larson - Lerch marriage - 1947

Miss Elva Mae Lerch became the bride of Mervin Larson at the Highland Lutheran church Tuesday, Nov. 25. The Rev. A. O. Nesset officiated. Miss Lerch is the daughter of Mrs. Harold Meisner of Elgin, Iowa, and Mr. Larson is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Adolph Larson of Elkader. Miss Janis Larson, a cousin of the groom sang "O Promise me," and with Miss Amy Lou Torkelson "The Lord's Prayer." They were accompanied at the piano by Mrs. Orval Larson who also played the processional and recessional. Mrs. Herbert Berns, sister of the groom, was matron of honor. Mrs. Lawrence Lerch, a sister-in-law of the bride, acted as bridesmaid. Lawrence Lerch, brother of the bride, served as best man. and Herbert Berns, brother-in-law of the groom was the other attendant.

After the ceremony a wedding dinner was served the bridal party and fifty relatives at the Meisner home. The Misses Mildred and Norman Larson and Mrs. Joe Lerch served as waitresses.

Mrs. Larson is a graduate of the Elgin high school and has since been employed in the office of the Northwestern Bell Telephone Co. in Elkader. Mr. Larson is a graduate of the Elkader high school and since his graduation has been assisting his father on the home farm.

The couple will continue in their present positions until early spring, when they will go to housekeeping on the Victor Kalb farm six miles west of Elkader.
