Speer - Graf marriage - 1947

The marriage of Miss Mary Elizabeth Graf, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. G. J. Graf, Elkader, to Vaughn Curtis Speer, son of Mr. and Mrs. I. F. Speer of Milford, was solemnized Tuesday, Aug. 19, in the Congregational Christian church in Elkader. The Rev. Herbert G. Kelly officiated. Miss Shirley Speer, sister of the groom, was maid of honor. and Mrs. Robert Entorf, Ames, and Mrs. C. H. Schlauderaff, Minneapolis, were bridesmaids. Pierce Green, Cherokee, served his cousin as best man. Ushers were Vincent Donahue, Milford, a fraternity brother of the groom, and Robert Entorf, Ames.

Mrs. Speer is a graduate of the Elkader high school and Iowa State college, and spent the past year in graduate dietetics work at the University of Minnesota hospitals. She will be employed as head dietitian at Mary Greeley hospital in Ames. Mr. Speer, a graduate of Milford high school, is now attending Iowa State college. He is a veteran of three years' service.

After Sept. 01, the couple will be at home in Ames.
