Leachman - Smith marriage - 1947

LEACHMAN, SMITH, SAUERBRY, BECKETT

Miss Helen Smith, youngest daughter of Mr. and Mrs. W. G. Smith of Strawberry Point, and William P. Leachman, son of Mr. and Mrs. H. B. Leachman of New Virginia, were married Sunday, Feb. 16. The Rev. R. Park Anderson, pastor of the Methodist church, officiated at the home of the bride's parents. Attendants were the bride's brother-in-law and sister, Mr. and Mrs. Dean Sauerbry. Nuptial music was furnished by Jean Leachman of New Virginia, brother of the groom.

Mrs. Leachman is a graduate of Upper Iowa University, attended Iowa State Teachers college, and the past four years has been fourth grade teacher in the Strawberry Point school. Mr. Leachman spent three and one-half years in service, two years of the time in the Pacific area.

The new couple will live in Strawberry Point where the groom is affiliated with the Leachman Lumber company.

Out of town relatives present were: Mr. and Mrs. H. B. Leachman, Mr. and Mrs. Jean Leachman and son David, Mr. and Mrs. Albert Becket and family, all of New Virginia.
