Meyers - Roethler marriage - 1940

VOLGA CITY: Miss O'Donna Roethler of Elkader and Mr. Virgil Meyers, son of Mr. and Mrs. Albert Meyers of Volga City were married Saturday, Oct. 05, in St. Joseph's church at Elkader with the Rt. Rev. Msgr. J. P. Taken officiating. Dale Roethler, brother of the bride was ring bearer. The maid of honor was the brides sister, Lou Ella Roethler of Chicago, while other bridesmaids were Patricia Carey, a cousin, also from Chicago, and LaVonne Roethler, also the brides sister. The groom was attended by his brother, Kenneth Meyers, of Ottumwa. His other attendants were Wm. Roethler, the bride's brother, and Bernard Hurley of Toledo, her cousin.

Mrs. Meyers is a graduate of St. Joseph's high school at Elkader and also attended St. Teresa's college, Winona, Minn., and Iowa State Teacher's college and since has been teaching school. Mr. Meyers is a graduate of the Volga City high school and has been assisting his parents on their farm near Volga City.
