Fehlhafer - Gmelin marriage - 1939

On Tuesday, Feb. 17th, Walter A. Fehlhafer and Gladys M. Gmelin were married at Frieden's Evangelical church, the Rev. P. Kitterer officiating. The attendants were Huron Boyle of McGregor and Helen Gmelin, sister of the bride. The bride is the daughter of Henry C. Gmelin of this city and a graduate of the Elkader High School. The groom is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Fred Fehlhafer of Garnavillo and is a graduate of Garnavillo High School, and was a deputy in the Clayton County treasurer's office for several years, from which he resigned in June of last year to accept a position with the Iowa State Highway Patrol. The new couple will leave this week for Los Angeles, Calif., where Mr. Fehlhafer will assist his father, who will move there to engage in the contracting and building business.
