Shields - Zapf marriage - 1938

Miss Bernadine Zapf, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. J, P, Zapf of Littleport, and Edward Shields, son of Mr. and Mrs. C. R. Shields of Hillsboro, Wisc., were united in marriage at the Sacred Heart church in Littleport last Wednesday, August 24, The Rev. Julius Olinger, officiated.

Mrs. Shields is a graduate of the Elkader high school, having lived here with her grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Albert Meder, while attending school. She also attended Clarke University of Dubuque, and the University of Iowa. She taught in the Littleport public school for three years.

Mr. Shields attended Columbia University and the University of Iowa and for the past four years has been teaching in the Eastern State college at Madison, S.Dak., where they will make their home.
