Stoneman - Southland, married 1858

STONEMAN, SOUTHLAND

MARRIED. At Jamestown, New York, March 15th, 1858, by Rev. Mr. Rouse, John T. Stoneman, Esq., of McGregor, to Miss Caroline M. Southland of the former place.

We received the above announcement per mail, several days since, and even before we were aware that John had traveled back to his old Eastern home. The event does not surprise us, because our friend has thus far exhibited excellent judgment in his western enterprises, and we hold that when a young man has the house ready (as is Stoneman's case), the next piece of work is to procure a wife to take care of it.

It was our pleasure on Saturday morning, to meet at Prairie du Chien, Mr. and Mrs. Stoneman, on their way to McGregor. May they be blessed with happiness unalloyed, in the home which they have chosen.
