On the eve of sailing for France, Corporal James Robertson, of the 61st Engineers, at Fort Benjamin Harrison, Indianapolis, obtained two days furlough and came to McGregor where his marriage with Miss Katherine Benjamin was consummated Friday, June 28, almost immediately after his arrival. Rev. A. E. Cutler performed the ceremony. The bride is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Dayton Benjamin and of the third generation of two of McGregor's best-known pioneer families, W. I. Gilchrist and Peter Walter. Corporal Robertson was born and brought up in Scotland. He has two brothers in the British army. A few hours after the wedding, Corporal Robertson left to join his regiment at an Atlantic port of embarkation.
