MONONA: St. Patrick's Catholic church in Monona was the scene of the wedding of Miss Marcella Maiers, the second daughter of Mr. and Mrs. John A. Maiers, to Alfonse Doyle, son of William Doyle of Parnell, Iowa. Rev. Father Luke Donlon performed the ceremony and read the nuptial mass. Miss Alberta Maiers, sister of the bride, sang several songs during the ceremony. Mrs. Doyle was given in marriage by her father, and looked charming in her mother's wedding dress, which had been worn by her grandmother when she became the bride of Andrew Walch. The bridesmaid was, Miss Mary Francys Maiers, nurse in training in Rochester and sister of the bride, While Mr. Vincent Naughton, a friend of the groom, was best man. Mrs. Doyle is a graduate of Monona High school, and later attended Iowa State Teachers college in Cedar Falls, graduated from Clarke college, Dubuque, and took post graduate work at the University of Wisconsin. She has been a successful teacher and during the past two years was the Home Economics teacher at Parnell, Iowa. Mr. Doyle attended Agricultural college at Ames and is actively engaged in dairy farming. After a short wedding trip the newlyweds will make their new home near Parnell, Iowa.
