Smith - Cordes marriage - 1927

A very quiet wedding was solemnized at West Union last Saturday when Miss Clara Cordes of this place became the bride of Mr. Claude Smith of Fayette. The bride is the daughter of Wm. Cordes who lives west of town, and is a graduate of our public school. Until the first of the year she was employed as an operator in the local telephone office. The groom is the youngest son of Mrs. Flora Smith of this place. He also graduated from our public school and from the State University at Iowa City. The couple left on a honeymoon trip to Minneapolis where they will visit the groom's sister, Mrs. Rita Staehle. They will make their home at Fayette where the groom is employed in the Smith Bros. meat market.
