Paine - Canda marriage - 1916

At the Cathedral rectory in Dubuque, on Wednesday morning, June 14th, occurred the marriage of Miss Mary Canada, youngest daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Jas. Canada, of this place, to Mr. Paul M. Paine, formerly of Madison, Wis. The bride has grown to womanhood in Elkader, while the groom has held the position of assistant County Engineer at this place for the past year or more. The couple departed Wednesday afternoon for Chicago, Milwaukee, Port Washington and other points on a wedding trip and on their return to Elkader will settle down to housekeeping in a part of the Mrs. Mary Gifford home on the East Side, where they will be at home to their many friends after July 1st.
