Mrs. Clara Vaupel, of Elkader, whose husband was a leading citizen, but who wasted his property, and finally ran away, leaving his family destitute, has instituted four suits for $2,000 each – against Jacob Stemmer, X. Lamm, Aug. Borman and Adolph Papin of which said husband became intoxicated and failed and neglected to attend to his business, whereby large sums of money and property were lost, and the physical and mental condition of said husband badly injured, and his ability to support his family greatly impaired; that in consequence the petitioner and her family have wanted for the common comforts and necessities of life, and have suffered great mental and physical pain and anguish and have been put to shame and disgrace.” Her attorneys are O’Dell & Son, of McGregor, and P. C. Young and Woodard & Preston of Elkader. We condense from the Clayton County Journal.
