In a pretty candle-light service at Hope Lutheran church in Littleport at 8 o'clock Monday evening, June 13, Miss Viola M. Fritz, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Henry Fritz, Strawberry Point, became the bride of Donald H. Martin, son of Mrs. Elsie Martin, Elkader. The Rev. W. G. Weber read the double ring ceremony. Miss Lois Martin sang "The Lords Prayer" at the close of the ceremony.
Miss Lois Martin, sister of the bridegroom, was bridesmaid and Lowell Fritz, brother of the bride, served as best man. Carl Hackert, son of Mr. and Mrs. Geo. Hackert of Volga, a nephew of the bride, was ring bearer. The Misses Bernadine Moser, cousin of the bride, and Patricia Roeder, cousin of the bridegroom, served as ushers. Mrs. Ruth Willman, maternal grandmother of the bride, was in attendance.
Following the ceremony a reception for the bridal party and 200 guests was held in the church parlors.
The couple left that evening for a ten-day honeymoon. They will visit the bridegroom's brother, C. Ph. M. C. Russell and Mrs. Martin and family at Norfolk, Va., and also will visit relatives at Buffalo, N.Y.
Mrs. Martin is a graduate of the Littleport high school. She was employed in the office of the county treasurer for a brief time and has since been employed in the office of the Northwestern Bell telephone company. Her husband is a graduate of Elkader high school and attended Junior college. Before and since his return from the service he has been employed at the Hughes bakery in Elkader.
On their return from their wedding trip the couple will be at home in the upstairs apartment at the home of the bridegroom's mother on the east side.
