Elkader Register, Fri., 14 Apr. 1882.
Married - At the Catholic church, Elkader, April 11th, 1882, by the Rev. Father Quigley, Mr. Matthew Fitzpatrick, of Cox Creek twp., to Miss Lizzie Connell, of Read twp.
The ceremony which united these two for life was performed in the presence of a large number of friends of the bride and groom. High mass was celebrated, after which the happy couple stepped forward, supported by Mr. Michael Regan and Miss Hannah Conners, and in a few moments were made one.
A reception was afterwards held at the residence of the bride's parents in Read twp., where a number of friends were gathered to tender their congratulations.
The groom is well known throughout the county as an industrious, honest young man, and also among the best of Clayton county's many good teachers. The bride is the accomplished daughter of Mr. P. Connell, and one of Read's fairest daughters, and will make Matthew's home a paradise if he but fulfills his part of the marriage obligation.
(There followed a list of presents given.)
