Elkader Register, Fri., 25 Feb. 1881. Elkport Locals column.
On Monday night Fred. Schultz got up some time in the night and took 70 dollars in money, belonging to his father, and then left for parts unknown.
A warrant was issued by squire Stahle and placed in the hands of constable Diedrich, who at once started in pursuit.
Fred. Schultz has several times been in the Anamosa penitentiary, also in the Clayton county jail. His father is an honest and respected citizen of this township, and a man whose every deed and act is honest.
If caught, Fred. will be sent as far as the law can send him. For a young man like Fred., who will do such a low and dirty trick as to steal the hard earnings of his old father and mother, the most severe punishment is too mild.
