Elkader Register, Fri., 9 Sept. 1881.
On Thursday, August 8th, 1881, at the residence of the bride's mother, Beulah, by Rev. T. E. Fleming, Mr. Walter Clift, of Elkader, to Miss Margaret R. Packer, of Beulah.
Mr. Clift is well known in Elkader, having been chief clerk for Joe. Lamm for nearly two years, and is one of our most steady, industrious and deserving young men, and is entitled to the fair bride he has won.
Miss Packer also has many friends in Elkader, and is greatly respected for her many womanly virtues. As the bride was formerly a devotee of the "Black Art", the Register sends its heartiest congratulations, and hopes that she and her husband may lead a long and happy life, that they may never lack "quoins," and that when the bridge of life has ended, that every act may be found properly "justified" and that they may be given a seat on the right hand of the heavenly Foreman.
