Dubuque Herald, Jan. 4, 1874

W. Laxson, a leading business man of Elkport, and one of the earliest settlers of the city disposing of pork and barley, he sold two car loads of dressed hogs on track at Elkport to Dubuque shippers at $3.8 ½.
