Dubuque Herald, Sept. 12, 1865

Escaped – James Brownley, who was arrested in this city on the 1st inst., charged with larceny in McGregor, was safely delivered to the Marshal of that city, but we are informed that on the trip up the river he succeeded in making his escape from him and has not since been heard of. The escape is not so complimentary to the Marshal of McGregor or was the capture to the police of Dubuque.
