Blanchard-Wheeler, marriage 1866

Married at Elkader, on the 13th of July, by J. W. Libby, J.P., Dr. Lewis Blanchard, of New York, and Miss Meranda Wheeler, of Yankee Settlement.

We were witness to the uniting in the “holy bonds” of this couple. The ceremony took place at the Davis House, and was brief, and therefore good. The young bride, whom we had the pleasure to know, has our sincere congratulation. May she be the happiest among the happy.

Dr. B., who has recently come from New York, is about to settle at Yankee Settlement, as he comes highly recommended we bespeak for him success in the practice of his Profession. Having taken unto him one of Hawkeye’s best of daughters, he has begun life in his new home aright.
