Cheerful/Merry Wedding Celebration
Farmersburg, Ia, 25 January. In the evangelical Lutheran St. Johannis Church on Wednesday afternoon January 19, one could find the festive wedding of Mr. William J. Schultz and Miss Malida L. Radloff. The wedding was officiated by Pastor Dr. G. J. Brown. There were numerous guests who wished the couple happiness after the wedding. After the wedding they headed over to the gathering at the town hall, and they had a nice meal prepared by Mother Radloff and her loyal helpers. The Father Karl Radloff also cared for his many guests by providing several kegs of delicious (nasses) from the island of the blessed in the Mississippi. An orchestra played some fine music until dawn. The youth and even some old people were celebrating. The newlyweds received many useful gifts. Everybody could enjoy a traditional German wedding. Many happy and healthy days together.
Source: Unknown newspaper article that was originally written in German. I had it translated by a cousin and daughter who know German. The “. . . island of the blessed in the Mississippi” is a mystery.
Note: the year was 1916
Submitter was a Radloff
