Mr. and Mrs. Carl Dietrich married fifty years March 2, 1928
Fifty years ago, or on March 2, 1878, Mr. and Mrs. Carl Dietrich were married in Germany, living there for 13 years, when they came to America and settled in Guttenberg where they have since made their home.
On last Friday, March 2, 1928, they celebrated their fiftieth wedding anniversary at their home in North Guttenberg, at which time their children, grand children and great grand children were present as follows: Fred Zarbrock, of Manly, Iowa; Mr. and Mrs. Carl Dietrich and son Wayne, of Manly, Iowa; Mr. and Mrs. Otto Dietrich, of McGregor, Iowa; Mr. and Mrs. W.C. Klemp and family and Mr. and Mrs. J.E. Noble and daughter Ella May, of Guttenberg; the grand children and great grand-children were Mrs. Anna Schulte, Manly, Iowa; Mr. and Mrs. Arthur Bunker and family, Manly, Iowa and Mr. and Mrs. James Flynn and family of Guttenberg. Rev. and Mrs. Emil Lehne were also present, Rev. Lehne making a presentation of a gold wreath with appropriate words for the occasion.
For a number of years Mr. Dietrich worked for Zimmerman & Ives in the saw mill here, and at other work in Guttenberg, always giving entire satisfaction at any job he undertook.
Mr. and Mrs. Dietrich are faithful members of the Lutheran church.
A bounteous 6 o'clock dinner was served, and at midnight lunch was served, after which the guests departed for their homes, wishing Mr. and Mrs. Dietrich hearty congratulations and wishes for many more anniversaries for this estimable couple.
Mr. and Mrs. Dietrich were the recipients of amny beautiful and valuable gifts.
