The Hauschen family registered at St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Garnavillo upon their arrival in Clayton County. Ann and Catherine (Katie) died young; Minnie never married but lived in Farmersburg in the parental home until her death at the age of 85. Mahalia married Herman L. The family lived for a time in short time in Clayton and then relocated in Garnavillo where Henry followed the trade of a blacksmith until 1878 when they moved to Farmersburg. In Farmersburg he again worked as a blacksmith until he died 18 Dec 1878 as the result of taking laudanum, a poison, leaving his widow to raise their six surviving daughters.
Wilhelmina Hauschen died on her 85th birthday, 29 Dec 1927 and was buried beside her husband Henry and daughter Katie in the Farmersburg-Wagner Cemetery.
