JOHN L. BASCOM
Representative from Dickinson county, was born in Farmersburg, Clayton county, Iowa, November 6, 1860. His father, J.S. Bascom, was born in White River Junction, Vermont, his mother in Pennsylvania. His parents moved to Clinton county in the spring of 1882, when he entered the Northern Indiana Normal School at Valparaiso, Indiana, where he graduated in the scientific course in the class of 1884 and in the law course in 1887. He entered the law office of Ellis & McCoy in Clinton in the spring of 1888. Was admitted to the bar in this State in October, 1888. Located at Milford in August, 1890 and engaged in law and real estate business. Married Miss Winifred Yorker, September 6, 1904. Elected Representative in 1906 and re-elected in 1908. A Republican in politics.
