Cooley, Edwin Gilbert - Born at Strawberry Point, Iowa, March 12, 1857; edcated in publc schools, State University of Iowa and University of Chicago; began teaching in 1879; superitendent of schools at Cresco, Iowa, and Aurora, Ill., 1885-1893; principal high school at La Grange, Ill., 1893-1900; superintendent schools in Chicago, 1900 to present; president National Educational association, 1907.
