Nelson, Gilbert, painter -- McGregor-- born 30 Dec., 1846, in Nes, Hedemarken, Norway. After having received a common school education in his native land, he came directly to his present place in 1870, having been in the painting business ever since. Before he emigrated he had also worked at his trade in different parts of Norway for eight years, having learned the same in Kristiania.

In 1871 he formed partnership with his brother, Rasmus, and they now do a large business, employing six or seven men all the time. In 1876 he was married to Maren Larson. They have four boys.
