MRS. HENRY WILLIS PASSES AWAY
Mrs. Henry Willis, daughter of well known pioneer residents of Clay county, passed away in the hospital at Worcester, Massachusetts, Thursday, May 10, 1928, at the age of 40 years, 5 months and 23 days. She had been in failing health for the past two years and in the fore part of April she submitted to a serious operation from which she never recovered.
The body was brought to Spencer Monday morning and funeral services were held at the Friends church in Greenville Monday afternoon at two o'clock conducted by the Rev. F. J. Carpenter, pastor of the Friends church. A male quartet composed of Roy Birdsall, F. J. Carpenter, Kenneth Scott and Mont Walker, sang three musical selections. Burial was made in the Liberty cemetery near Greenville.
Bertha C. Brallier, daughter of David and Sarah J. Brallier, was born in Greenville, Clay county, was born in Greenville, Clay county, Iowa, November 17, 1887. She grew to womanhood with her parents near Greenville. She possessed a lovable disposition and a sunny nature and was always a favorite among among her friends. She united with the "Church of the Brethren" when but a girl and always lived a faithful Christian life.
On October 21, 1908, she was united in marriage to Henry G. Willis of Shickly, Nebraska, where they lived until in 1921 when they moved to Dudley, Massachusetts, where they had since made their home.
She leaves to mourn her death her husband, nine children, Dorothy, Lowell, Delta, Irene, Naomi, David, Eileen, Ruth and Joyce, also her aged mother, five sisters and three brothers.
Among those from a distance to attend the funeral were Mrs. V. A. Johnson of Albert Lea, Minnesota, a sister, and brother, George Brallier and family of Mallard, also Mr. and Mrs. Whitmere of Mallard, and Mrs. George Schlarbaum and daughter of Everly.
