Short funeral services for Mrs. Theron Harwood, a former resident of Spencer, Iowa, who died a few minutes after midnight, May 12, 1928, at her home in Egan, South Dakota, were held Monday afternoon at two o'clock at the Methodist church with the Rev. Harlow Arms, pastor of the Methodist church of Egan, officiating, assisted by the Dr. Herbert Clegg, pastor of the local church.

Mrs. O.R. Arrington and Mrs. Carl Eastland sang three selections, "Abide with Me," "Jesus, Savior Pilot Me" and "Jesus, Lover of My Soul," accompanied by Mrs. C.D. Eckerman at the piano. Burial was made in Riverside cemetery.

Cleora Jones was born April 10, 1856, in Fort Covington, New York, where she grew to womanhood. On April 10, 1882, she was united in marriage to Theron Harwood, afterward moving to South Dakota, where they settled on a homestead in Moody county near Flandreau, where they had since lived with the exception of ten years spent near Spencer.

To this union of Mr. and Mrs. Harwood six children were born, Hiram Harwood of near Brookings, Theron J. Harwood of Woodward, Iowa, Lucy, of near Brookings, Myra and Mahaln, of Minneapolis, Minnesota, and Minnie of near Flandreau.

Mrs. Harwood leaves to mourn her departure her six children, besides other relatives and friends. Her closing years were years of failing health to which her death came as a relief to the over taxed body.
