October 4, 1901-January 5, 1999

Goldya Dougal, 97, died Tuesday, January 5, 1999, at Dickinson County Memorial Hospital in Spirit Lake.

Funeral services will be at 1:30 p.m. Saturday, January 9, at the Turner Funeral Home, Milford, with the Rev. Shermaine McAlphine officiating.

Casket Bearers; Bryan Covington, Bruce Dougal, Leonard Dougal, Roger Dougal, David Gottsche and Jack Welle.

Burial will be at Lone Tree Cemetery, Everly, with the Turner Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.

Goldya Violet Dougal was born in Maple Township, Ida County, to J.T. and Laura E. (Flory) White on October 4, 1901. The family moved to Baltic, South Dakota, where she attended school. She graduated from Del Rapids High School. She also took her Normal Training for teaching at Del Rapids. She taught at a country school at Dunlap.

She married Adelbert Dougal, October 14, 1921, at Dunlap. They farmed near Dunlap and Missouri Valley before moving to a farm near Everly in 1937. They brought a farm southwest of Milford and moved there in 1950. Goldya loved growing beautiful flowers around her home by the Little Sioux River. She moved to the Milford Care Center after suffering a stroke in 1987.

Goldya was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; a son, Merwin; and two brothers.

She is survived by two sons, Maurice and his wife, Louise, of Lake Park; Arwin and his wife Peggy, of Austin, Texas; a daughter-in-law, Marianne Berhow of Ames; eight granchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; and two sister, Ruby Yount of Pomeroy and Verna Deiveness of Sioux Falls, South Dakota.
