Mrs. Wm. J. Henderson, an old resident of Dickens, passed away at her home, Saturday, March 24 [1928]. She had been in failing health for the past year but was most patient during her illness and received the best of care from her family, relatives and friends. Mrs. Henderson was a splendid woman, a kind and affectionate mother and a good neighbor. At the time of her death, Mrs. Henderson was 72 years, 2 months and 23 days old.
Dora A. Clemons [sic] was born in Norway, January 1, 1856 and came to the United States when a very small child. She was married to William J. Henderson, July 4, 1877, and they made their home on their farm in Amity neighborhood, Iowa county, Iowa. Mr. and Mrs. Henderson were charter members of the Amity Presbyterian church of Iowa county. In 1901 they moved to Clay county, Iowa, where they were making their home at the time of Mrs. Henderson's death. Mrs. Henderson was a member of the Methodist church at Dickens.
Besides her husband, Mrs. Henderson leaves to mourn her departure, six sons, O. R. and Herbert of Dickens, J. W. of Waterloo, Iowa, R. J. of Minneapolis, Minn, E. J. of Milwaukee, Wisconsin and W. C. of Aitkin, Minnesota, three daughters, Mary Janes of Steele, North Dakota, Addie Christenson of Lohrville, la., and Rebie Crane of Dickens. A daughter Elizabeth Hargrave preceeded her mother In death in 1924.
Funeral services were held from the Dickens Methodist church yesterday afternoon, March 27, with Rev. W. O. Tompkins of Spencer, who was Mrs. Henderson's first pastor in Dickens officiating. The six sons carried their mother to her final resting place. All the Henderson children were present at the funeral services and a great many other out of town relatives and friends were also present.

Mrs. William J. Henderson, resident of Dickens, Iowa, for the past twenty-seven years, passed away at her home Saturday, March 24, 1928. She had been in failing health for the past year. Her death being caused by old age and complications. At the time of her death she was 72 years, 2 months and 23 days of age.
During her illness Mrs. Henderson was a most patient sufferer and she received the best of care from the members of her family, relatives and friends.
Dora A. Clemons [sic] was born in Norway January 1, 1856, and came to the United States when a very small child. She was united in marriage to W. J. Henderson July 4, 1877, and following their marriage they moved to their farm in the Amity neighborhood in Tama county where they were charter members of the Amity Presbyterian church.
In 1901 Mrs. Henderson came to Clay county with her husband and family where they have since made their home in Dickens. She became a member of the Dickens Methodist church upon coming to Clay county.
Mrs. Henderson was a splendid woman, a kind and affectionate mother and a good neighbor.
Besides her husband, Mrs. Henderson leaves six sons and three daughters. They are: Mary Jaynes of Steele, North Dakota, J. W. Henderson of Waterloo, Iowa, R. J. Henderson of Minneapolis, E. J. Henderson of Milwaukee, Iowa, W. C. Henderson of Aitkin, Minnesota, Addie Christenson of Lohrville, Iowa, Rebie Crane, O. R. Henderson and Herbert Henderson, all of Dickens. Elizabeth Hargrave preceded the mother in death in 1924.
Funeral services were held Tuesday afternoon at the Methodist church in Dickens at two o’clock. In charge the Rev. W. O. Thompson of Spencer, who was Mrs. Henderson’s first pastor in Dickens. Burial was made in the Dickens cemetery.
