The funeral of Geo. C. Kindlespire, whose death was reported in last week's News, occurred Saturday at 11 o'clock a.m. at the M. E. church, Rev. O. M. Bond, the pastor, conducting the services. Tho' the day was cold and stormy, yet there was a large urnout of people from both city and country. Annett Post, of which deceased was a member, turned out in a body, to pay the final tribute of love to a worthy brother, and following the services by the pastor, the G. A. R. service was read at the church, instead of at the grave—the usual custom—the place of burial. Douglas Center cemetery, being about fourteen miles distant from Spencer, and but few of the old soldiers felt well enough to drive so far, on such a day. Douglas Center cemetery is near the old home of the deceased and has been the family burying ground since coming to Clay county.

Geo. Christian Kindlespire was born in Woodford county, Ill., Dec. 25th, 1840. In the year 1854 he moved to Clayton county, Iowa, where he lived until the year 1859, when he moved to Clay county, Iowa, settling on a farm in Douglas township. In the year 1800 he married Miss Jennie Dubois; to them were born four children—two sons and two daughters, three of which—Oran, Lula, and Mrs. Brown, of Rossie, are now living. In the year 1901 he moved with the family to Spencer, where he died April 28th, 1909. He leaves a wife, two daughters, one son, two brothers and one sister to mourn his loss. He was a soldier in the union army, and gave nearly three years of his life to service in behalf of His country. He was wounded at the battle of Fort Donnellson. He was a member of the M.E. church of Spencer.
