Marion M. Rohweder, 86, of Cherokee died Wednesday, Dec. 1, 1993, at Sioux Valley Memorial Hospital, Cherokee after a sudden illness.

Services will be 1:30 p.m. Saturday at Bethel Lutheran Church in Sutherland with Pastor Leroy Riemer officiating. Burial will be in the Oak Hill [Oakland] Cemetery, Peterson. Visitiation will be 10a.m. to 9 p.m. today at Greenwood Funeral Home, Cherokee, A family prayer service will be 1:15 p.m. Saturday at the church.

Mrs. Rohweder was born July 21, 1907, in Royal, the daughter of William and Mary (Bakkaus) Steffen. She attended Yankee County School in Clay County. On Sept. 22, 1929, she married John "Jack" Rohweder in Spencer. The couple farmed for many years in the Everly, Peterson and Royal communities. She had been a midwife for Dr. Adams in Royal for many years. They retired from farming and moved to Sutherland in 1971. Mr. Rohweder died Dec. 16, 1990. She had been a resident of Cherokee the last 18 months.

Mrs. Rohweder was a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars Auxiliary and the Bethel Lutheran Church in Sutherland.

Survivors include three sons, Lowell Steffen of Pueblo, Colo., Larry Rohweder and his wife, Joyce of Cherokee and Kirby Rohweder of Atlanta, Ill., two brothers, William Steffen and his wife, Ruth and Everett Steffen and his wife, Amanda, all of Spencer; five sisters, Etta Klatt of Sutherland, Leona Kriesel of Spirit Lake, Clara Christensen and her husband, James of Spencer, Caroline Peterson of Newbury Park, Calif., and Marjorie Powell and her husband, Donald of Spitit Lake; a sister-in-law, Lola Rohweder of Everly; seven grandchildren, and eight great-grandchildren. She was also preceded in death by three brothers; and two sisters.
