Harvey Farris, 78, Spencer, died Wednesday, October 7, 1998 at Sioux valley Hospital, Sioux Falls South Dakota
Services will be at 10:30 a.m. today at Living Word Church, Spencer with the Rev. Alan Dean officiating
Casket bearers will be Don Camp, Dave Frerichs, Al Tielbur, Hershel Morse, Ron Johnson and Dale Neville
Burial will be at Barnes Township Cemetery, Linn Grove with Warner Funeral Home of Spencer in charge of arrangements
Military services will be conducted by American Legion Glen Pedersen Post #1
Harvey "JR" Farris, Jr. the son of Harvey and Lillian (Bracket) Farris was born May 29, 1920 in Newtown, Missouri and it was there he received his education
Harvey entered the military and served with the U.S. Army from February 5, 1942, until the time of sis honorary discharge on March 7, 1946. While in the service he was awarded three Overseas Service bars, the American Campaign medal, a World War II Victory medal and the European African Middle Eastern Campaign medal
Following his discharge, Harvey married Thurma Larson in 1947. They made their home in Linn Grove before moving to Spencer in 1955. He was in the trucking business for many years. Harvey was a member of the Glen Pedersen Post #1, American Legion of Spencer
He was preceded in death by his parents, a stepson, Jerry Larson, a brother and two sisters
Mr. Farris is survived by his wife, one daughter, Connie Dean and her husband, Jim of Spencer; two step sons, Jim Larson and his wife, Alice of Spencer and Randy Larson and his wife, Jeanne of Waco, Texas; a daughter in law Janice Larson of Spencer; 10 grandchildren; 12 great grandchildren; two brothers, Jim and William of Des Moines; and two sisters, Mary Alice Sheffield of Des Moines and Doris Pratt and her husband Chuck of Story City
