Funeral services for Carl L. Madson, 81, of Webb were held Monday morning, April 13, at
10:00 a.m. from the Warner Chapel in Spencer with the Pastor George Hope officiating.
Casket bearers were Ken Essick, Rusty Hoover, Darrell Brugman, Jack Hamrick, Jerry Enderton, and Burrel Matthews.
Burial was in the North Lawn Cemetery in Spencer with the Warner Funeral Home of Spencer in charge of the arrangements.
Carl L. Madson, the son of Will and Lucretia Trenary Madson, was born January 13, 1911, in Peckham, Oklahoma. He moved with his parents at the age of three in a covered wagon to Early. He received his education in Early and later graduated from Lincoln Lee School near Rembrandt
On May 31, 1937, Carl married Pearl Fitsimmons on the Fitsimmons Farm. Following their marriage, they farmed in the Webb area. While living there, he was an avid horseman and had been President of the Northwest Iowa Trail riders and a charter member of the Northwest Iowa Harness Club.
He was also inducted into the Olmstead County Belgian Hall of Fame and the Iowa Draft Horse Hall of Fame. He was a trustee for Herdland Township. for many years and helped organize the area Rural Fire Protection Service.
Mr. Madson passed away at the Spencer Municipal Hospital on April 10, 1992.
He was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers, Donald and Leland.
He is survived by his wife, Pearl of Webb; one son and his wife, Darrel and Carole Madson of Gladwin, MI; two daughters, Grace Kunz of Ames and Joyce Johnson of Belle Plaine, Minn.; seven grandchildren; six greatgrandchildren; and a host of other relatives and friends.
