Luther Martin Jones, 90 of Peterson, died Sunday, April 5 in Cherokee
Funeral services will be Wednesday, April 8 at 10:30 a.m. at the United Methodist Church in Peterson with the Rev. Larry McCann officiating
Burial will be at the Barnes Township Cemetery, Linn Grove
Casket Bearers will be Ron Mueller, Steve Sullivan, Tom Sullivan, Bob Sullivan, Bill Eaton, Gordon Richter, Michael, and Casey Jones
The Baumgarten Funeral Home of Peterson is in charge of arrangements
The son of Rufus and Sarah Jones, he was born October 19, 1901, in Hawkins County, Tennessee. At the age of 19, his father died and the family moved to Knoxville, Iowa. From there he came to Linn Grove, where his sister Lula lived
Mr. Jones married Ellen Emanuelson in Sioux Rapids on May 29, 1927. After working several jobs, he stared farming. After retiring from farming they bought an acreage near Peterson. At that time, he began work as a painter
He was preceded in death by his parents, three sisters, one brother, his son and his son in law
Mr. Jones is survived by his wife; two daughters, Joyce and her husband, Don Sullivan of Arnolds Park and Margaret Mueller of Peterson; one daughter in law, June Jacobson of Sioux Rapids; 12 grandchildren; 32 great grandchildren; and three great great grandchildren
