Helen Catherine Ketelsen, the daughter of Emil F. and Minnie (Heidt) Meyn, was born August 31, 1918 in Ridgewood, New York and later graduated from Grover Cleveland High School
On April 14, 1945, Helen married Elden Ketelsen in Ridgewood, New York and following their marriage, they moved to Everly in 1947 where they farmed. While living in the Everly area, she was a member of the Hope Lutheran Church and the VFW Auxiliary #3159 of Clay County. She also enjoyed ceramics, crocheting and cooking.
Mrs. Ketelsen passed away at her home in rural Everly on Friday, April 24, 1991, at the age of 73
She was preceded om death by her parents; her husband on October 2, 1970; one brother, Arnold' her step mother, Ana Meyn; a step brother, Lawrence Vesper and one step sister, Marie Cummings
Helen is survived by one son and his wife; John and Danet Ketelsen of Sloan, Iowa; 3 daughters and their husbands; Ann & John Tock of Alton, Illinois; Jeanie and Ray McDonald of Chandler, Arizona; Ellen and Craig Zahrt of Winnemucca, Nevada; 13 grandchildren; one brother, Robert Meyn of Spencer, Iowa; as well as other relatives
