Walter Henry Mundt, 95 died Monday, May 6, 1996, Spencer Municipal Hospital
Funeral services will be held today at 10:30 a.m. at Hope Lutheran Church, Everly with the rev. G. Duane Baun officiating
Casket Bearers will be Richard Kirksey, Sr. Wayne Peters, Earl Norton, Richard Kirksey, Jr. Jim Mills and Orlin Peters
Burial will be at Lone Tree Cemetery, Everly with Warner Funeral Home of Spencer in charge arrangements
Walter Henry Mundt, the son of John William and Meta (Ketelsen) Mundt, was born December 20, 1900 in Davenport. It was there he received his early education and graduated from high school. He attended and graduated from the Iowa State University and was a member of the Lambda Chi Alpha Fraternity
He married Alice Peters on September 3, 1930 in Everly. Following their marriage, they farmed in the Everly area. Mr. Mundt was also associated with Clay Mutual insurance, He retired in 1968 and in 1969 the couple moved to Spencer
He was active in the Everly community and was a member of the Hope Lutheran Church. He served on the Board of Directors of Clay Mutual Insurance for 27 years, 12 years on the Farm Service Board and AAA and the Home Administration Board. During the war, he was on the rationing board and the war bond committee. He was a member of the Masonic Lodge #560 and Abu Bekr Shrine
Mr. Mundt was preceded in death by his parents, and infant son, Jon; a brother and a sister
He is survived by his wife; one son Jerry Mundt and his wife, Elaine of Chicago, Illinois; two grandchildren and four great grandchildren
